This blog post is about my thoughts on Emerging Technology.
What are two things you learned in the class that will be useful to you late in your high school or college career?
- I learned what an infographic is, how to use it, and what details I should add to make it appealing. This will be useful to me in the future because if I ever have to make an infographic as a presentation for one of my classes again, I will know how to use it, and I won't have any problem doing it.
- I also learned a lot about a blog and how to use it. This is my first time making a blog, and I learned a lot from it like how to embed a code, website, or picture, and how I should use it. Even though I already knew what a post was before, I gained some more knowledge about it and it was a good experience as well.
What were your 2 most favorite web 2.0 tool that we used in this class? Explain.
My two most favorite web 2.0 tools were Pixlr and Glogster. I liked Pixlr because there are a lot of photo editing tools that I can use when I am editing my photo and Pixlr makes the photo look more enhanced and interesting. Pixlr also has three different choices to begin with: Playful, Efficient, and Advanced, so each option gives you different tools that you can use to edit your photo, depending on which level you choose.
I liked Glogster because it is a cool web 2.0 website to use when creating a poster, such as an infographic. This website also gave you many tools that you could use to create the best poster you could possibly make, and it was also easy to navigate throughout the website and tools when I was making my poster.
What is one thing you wish would have been different about this class?
I wish we did not do many projects relating to our global issue because it became boring of doing projects with the same topic. One or two projects regarding our global issue would have been fine, but doing more became tedious. We could have done the same projects such as making a presentation or an infographic, but if we had different topics,or if we got to choose our topic, then it would have been more fun and it would have been something that we would have looked forward to.
What is one thing you really liked about this class?
I liked doing different projects and using different web 2.0 tools throughout the class. Our class got to do a variety of projects from photo editing pictures to creating presentations to infographics to even writing a paper. If we had just done the same type of projects for each unit, like presentations, for example, then this class would have been boring and we would not have learned anything at all. But since we got to do several different projects, this class was more fun. Another advantage of doing different projects throughout the semester is that you can learn new web 2.0 websites and tools to use in the future. For example, I came across many photo editing websites, like Pixlr or Photoshop, that I had never heard of before when we started the photo editing projects. It was very fun working with those websites, and it was something that I could possibly use later in high school or college. Other web 2.0 tools that I learned this year were the social bookmarking tools, such as Diigo or Netvibes. They can come in handy when I have a lot of information that I have to organize. Learning different web 2.0 tools for different projects can be useful to me in school and even later in the future.
